Wendell G. “Windy” Ballard, age 93, of Bellingham, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2016.
Windy was born to Charles and Luella (Crandell) Ballard on April 25, 1922, in Bellingham. He graduated from Meridian High School in the class of 1941 and proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Windy worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier for 29 years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion and Central Lutheran Church. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, watching Meridian High School sports and spending time with his family.
Windy was preceded in death by his first wife, June Hansen; second wife, Betty Smithey; and his brother, Don Ballard.
He is survived by his son, Steve (Scarlett) Ballard; daughter Barb (Chuck) Crnich; granddaughters Kelly (Duane) Gookstetter and Angie (Brady) O’Hare; grandsons Jeff (Melanie) Crnich and Scott (Beth) Ballard; and great-grandchildren Hannah, Luke, Trent, Rodney, Riley, Raeleen and Ruger.
