Norman “Vince” Hemingson, longtime financial advisor in Whatcom County, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017 at the age of 80. He was born April 19, 1936 in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, Canada, to Edmond and Ivy (Moorow) Hemingson. Vince grew up in Portage La Prairie before moving on to Virden and graduating from Virden Manitoba High School.
Vince was known for his likeable outgoing personality, which benefited him in his professional career as a financial advisor. He was with Edward Jones, Piper Jaffray and most recently UBS. Vince loved spending time golfing and he was an avid horseman. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America and as a lay speaker at the Lynden United Methodist Church.
Vince married Ruth Kunkel on July 27, 1957 and together they had one son, Chris. The family moved to Whatcom County in 1982.
Vince was preceded in death by brother Errol Hemingson and sister Delores Hemingson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Ruth; son Chris (Susan) Hemingson; and two grandchildren.
Vince and his family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Joseph Hospital and Whatcom Hospice who extended his quality of life.
At Vince’s request, there will be no service.
