Shirley Wallace of Ferndale, beloved mom, grandma, and great grandma, passed away Friday, Jan. 27. She was born March 2, 1937, and married Robert Butler “Doug” Wallace in 1954. They were married 50 years, until his death in 2004.
Shirley was the best mom to her daughters Linda Hughes, Pamela Wallace, Kim (Alan) Raper; and an even better grandma to her granddaughters, Chasma Gerron, Keysha Ashour, Jessica Raper, and Stephanie Raper; and great-grandchildren Rowan Gerron, Finley Gerron, Campbell Ashour, and Livi Ashour. All of Shirley’s grandchildren have many special memories of their time spent with her.
Shirley was a wonderful cook. Nobody ever got hungry when in her care. We are all grateful for her wonderful care through the years.
Shirley is also survived by her sister Charmie (Dan) Dibble, in-laws Mark and Judy Wallace and Joan Donnelly, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two older brothers, Ed Higdon and Earl Higdon.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to daughter Pam Wallace, the entire staff at Christian Health Care Center in Lynden, and Whatcom Hospice for their dedicated care of her.
There will be no services at this time.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Gillies Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
