Sheriff: Jail inmate hangs himself

  WHATCOM ­— County Sheriff Bill Elfo reported Monday that a county inmate had hung himself in the downtown Bellingham jail that morning.   According to Elfo, the inmate fashioned his shirt into a noose that he then jammed into a cell door.
