Sharon Arlene Sutherland, of Sumas, passed away in her sleep on Dec. 29, 2016 due to complications from a stroke on Dec. 28. She was 75.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ronald A. Sutherland; four children, Lauri, Rich, Darren and Dale; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Sharon was an avid horseback rider, having been president of several equestrian and back-country riding associations through the years, as well as being an avid painter. In her final years, she adapted her lifelong sewing skills into making beautiful quilts and blankets for all of her children and grandchildren with her quilting friends in Salome, Arizona.
A memorial reception will be held in Salome.
