On May 29, 2016, Rose Lyn McClure (nee Price) passed away at her home in Lynden at the age of 74 years old. She was born on Oct. 1, 1941, in the city of Picton, Ontario. She was a daughter of Harold and Kay Price.
Lyn grew up in the northern Ontario town of New Liskeard where her family ran the Husky Restaurant for many years. She attended Queen’s University in Kingston and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and physics in 1962. Lyn worked for a few years in Toronto and Ottawa but spent the majority of her career in Southern California where she was employed as a senior systems engineer designing and implementing computer systems and software for Hughes Aircraft and other firms. She designed many cutting edge technologies that are still in use today.
In retirement she kept busy volunteering as a state tax representative for the AARP and also ran computer workshops to teach students at the local library. In her spare time, she enjoyed hiking with her friends, reading and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harold (1965); mother Kay (2008); and brothers Neale (1995) and Jim (1998).
Lyn was a loving aunt and will be sadly missed by Roberta and Jeff of Ontario; and Ian, Kym and James of British Columbia.
Funeral plans have been completed privately with the family.
If so desired, the family would appreciate donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
