Ronald Dean Rasmussen, 61, of Bellingham, died Oct. 12, 2018, at home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born April 11, 1957, in Walla Walla, Washington, a son of the late Mary and Jorgen Rasmussen.
A graduate of Walla Walla High School and certificated by Bellingham Technical College, Ron was a service technician for 37 years. He served in the National Guard for six years, Sergeant, Company C, 1st Battalion, 303rd Armor Division.
Ron was a member of Bellingham Christ the King church for 20 years, serving as a small group leader and volunteer. He loved God, his family and the outdoors, and he will be remembered fondly for his corny joke telling.
He is survived by his wife, Debra; children Billy, Joy, Angie, Ronald Jr., Cail, Mary and Patricia and their spouses; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and siblings Kathy, Karen, Chris and David and their spouses.
A memorial service, with reception to follow, will be at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, in the Squalicum Boathouse, 2600 N. Harbor Loop, Bellingham, WA 98225.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
