Our beloved husband, father Richard Douglas Hemmann passed away on July 16, 2023 at 71 years young.
Rick as he was commonly known by was born in Bellingham and resided in Sumas until 2002. He then moved to Arizona with his wife Arlene and daughter Amanda.
For the past eight years, they lived in Black Canyon City, where Rick found his true calling. He was the church greeter and took his position very seriously. He loved people, and he loved to talk. It was a match made in heaven, so very appropriate that, that would be where he drew his last breath.
Rick was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In his younger years, he enjoyed putting scrap hauls together in his 67 Chevy pickup. If he wasn’t scrapping, you would find him playing around on his little John Deere Tractor.
Rick is survived by his wife of 37 years Arlene, daughter Amanda (Patrick), granddaughter Annicah. Also daughter Tracie and brother James (Heather) along with his nieces.
Rick is proceeded in death by his mother, father, grandparents and many very dear friends. Which we know he is chatting up a storm with them all.
We will have a celebration of life on Sept. 30 at the Black Canyon Community Church at 11 a.m., potluck to follow.
In July 2024 his family will travel back to Sumas for Rick’s final resting place. Will also have a graveside military service on his behalf. He may be gone, but will never be forgotten.
