Mildred Lehman

We hold in loving memory Mildred (Millie) Lehman, who passed away peacefully in her sleep at 10:45 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, at the age of 92.

She was born in Milaca, Minnesota, on Oct. 23, 1926, and as a young girl moved to Whatcom County with her large family. She married her sweetheart, Lyle Lehman, in 1943 and they homesteaded in Everson for 48 years, raising four children.

She loved gardening and spending time tending to her flowers, clocks, tea and especially family. She considered herself a farmer/homemaker, with 10.5 acres that once held raspberries, peas and corn. She will be dearly missed by family, friends and the supportive staff at Louisa Place in Ferndale where she spent the last five months of her life. A very heartfelt thank-you is extended to all staff there who truly enriched her life.

She is survived by son Richard (Dick) Lehman; grandchildren Terri Blair-Parkhurst, Paul Blair, Debbie Lehman and Heather Lehman; great-grandchildren Brendan Lehman, Taylor Lehman, Thomas Parkhurst and Adriana Lehman; and sisters Angie Schutte, Edith Miller, Lucy Ogar and Judy Hallibuton.

She was preceded in death by husband Lyle Lehman (2007); daughters Diana May (1954) and Cynthia (2013); and son Gary (2018).

A private graveside memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, in Nooksack Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life program for all at 3 p.m. in Gillies Funeral Home of Lynden. In honor of Millie, we ask for you to wear her favorite color: blue. In lieu of flowers, please support your local favorite charity.

You are invited to share your memories and condolences in the online Guest Book at www.GilliesFuneralHome.com.

Arrangements are entrusted to Gillies Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
