Mary “Lee” Nichols, 66, of Newark, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 15, 2016. She was born on Dec. 14, 1949, in Chicago, a daughter of the late Lt. Col. (USAF Ret.) William and Deanna (Honcoop) Nichols of Ft. Washington, Maryland.
Lee was a cheerful soul, known for her huge laugh, warm hugs, encouraging words, love for cats and award-winning chocolate strawberry pie. Lee was a longtime member and active minister at Bethel Rock House of Prayer. She also enjoyed working in the call center at The GolfWorks, where she was employed for 17 years.
Lee is survived by her loving children, Sean (Wendy) Applegate, Casey (Jenni) Applegate and Megan (Matthew) Fleshman; grandchildren David, Ashley, Austin, Aaron, Jake, Kiley Applegate, Jade, Brendon Hallam and William Fleshman; great-granddaughter Sophia Moore; siblings Karin (Jim) Clancy, Bob Nichols and Lauri (Todd) Kemmerling; niece Shannon Clancy; and nephews Tyler and Jared Kemmerling.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her infant son, William Douglas Applegate, whom she has joined in Heaven.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Crouse-Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 225 N. Main St., Johnstown, OH 43031. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home with pastor Reecior Puryear officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.
