Marian Stremler

Marian was born on Feb. 9, 1926 to Albert and Elizabeth Mulder. She grew up on their dairy farm near Sumas. Our Lord and Savior took her into his loving arms and welcomed her home on May 21, 2017 at the age of 91.

Marian was married on Nov. 26, 1946 to her loving and devoted husband, Maurice “Mick” Stremler. They shared the joy of dairy farming in Lynden, traveling and going on many rides around Whatcom County for 52 years. They loved spending time with their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and extended families.

Marian loved to entertain, visiting and bringing meals to encourage friends and family, and volunteering at Lynden Christian Schools. She was known for crocheting afghans and making quilts for many in her family.

She is survived by four daughters, Herm and Eleanor Boonstra, Lloyd and Shirley Bos, Pete and Lois Dykstra and Don and Arlene Drost; one son, Marv and Ruthi Stremler; 20 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys Haveman.

She was preceded in death by her husband Mick of 52 years, daughter-in-law Terri Stremler, her parents, brother Alvin Mulder and sister Hilda Kornelis.

With her beautiful smile, she had a love of the Lord in her heart and that was very evident in the life she lived. Her note to all: “May you find comfort in knowing that I am with the Lord and resting in His perfect peace that is beyond all pain and sorrow!”
