Maria G. Archuleta, age 73, of Everson, passed away on Thanksgiving Day Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016, surrounded by family. She was born in Odem, Texas, on May 21, 1943 to Jose A. and Maria (Gaona) Morin. The family traveled as migrant workers and eventually settled in Lynden in 1953.

Maria met Robert Archuleta at a dance in 1965 and they were married on July 2, 1966. Together they had four daughters, Dora, Amelia, Estella and Juanita. Maria was a homemaker enjoying time with her children and grandchildren. After Robert retired, Maria worked at Rader Farms from 1999 to 2006 as a line supervisor. Maria loved to travel, especially wintering in Southern California, camping and the beach. She loved to decorate for the holidays and dancing. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Lynden.

Maria was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2012 and fought bravely, long and hard. When the doctors didn’t have the answer, her Jesus Christ did.

She was preceded in death by sisters Antonia Morin and Marina Morin.

Maria is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert; daughters Dora Archuleta, Amelia Archuleta Schram, Estella (Jay) Anderson and Juanita (Jeff) Beaulieu; six grandchildren, Sierra, Levi, Marcus, Vaughn, Carmen and Miller; brothers Jose (Alice) Morin and Johnny Morin; sisters Susie Morin-Lira, Santos Reyes, SanJaunita Morin and Dyana Morin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In honor of Maria, her Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, in Gillies Funeral Home. The Christian Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, in St. Joseph Catholic Church.
