M. Lucille Case died on Dec. 12, 2016.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude O. Case; her son, James Bamford Case; her siblings and their spouses; and many of Claude’s siblings and their spouses. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Nancy and Henry O’Bourke, and Carol and James Shanahan; grandchildren Neko Case, Brent Trople, Jason Trople and Tara Chala, and great-grandchildren Karissa Trople, Jake Trople, Cyrus Chala and Myca-Rhea Chala; Claude’s siblings and spouses, Floyd and Pat Case, and Dolores and Albert Mason; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Lucille Bamford was born at home on Dec. 24, 1915 in Idaho. She was the fourth of six siblings and lived in Idaho and Oregon as a child. She lived in Spokane, Washington, as a young woman and married Claude Case in 1944. They lived in Norman and Forgan, Oklahoma, and Wishram, LaCenter and Lynden, Washington, until Claude’s death in 1977. As a widow, Lucille lived in Lynden, Junction City, Oregon, and the Seattle area.
She was active in the Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge as an Eastern Star member. She was a talented seamstress and cook, an avid reader and bridge player, a curious traveler, and most importantly a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. In her final years, Alzheimer’s slowly took her away from us bit by bit. We rejoice that she is finally at peace.
Memorial services will be held at the United Methodist Church, 500 14th St., Lynden, at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund (curealz.org).
