Louise Joan Ehlers, age 81, of Lynden passed away on Aug. 31, 2023. She suffered from a medical event while driving, leading to a motor vehicle accident.
Louise Joan Hubby was born on March 22, 1942 to parents Norman Jack Hubby and Mary Louise Jepsen Hubby in Rockford, IL. She had six siblings – Norma, Barbara, Chuck, Mary Jane, Mike, and John. She attended and graduated from Nooksack Valley High School.
In high school, Louise met Darryl Ehlers and they were married on Oct. 8, 1960. Louise went on to have five children.
Louise held a significant role in the lives of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins. Louise was the definition of the word matriarch and was beloved by the many children fortunate enough to be a part of her tribe.
Louise had many passions including gardening, traveling, spending time at the beach, and enjoying time with her family and friends. She was also a devoted parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and enjoyed being a member of their choir group for many years.
Services will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Friday, Sept. 8 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Nooksack Valley Animal Hospital, two organizations which Louise felt strongly about.
