With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Leslie Rae Kiel, who left this world peacefully and was welcomed into heaven on March 10, 2021. Our beloved daughter, mother, sister, aunt and friend will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Leslie was born July 18, 1969, in Bellingham to Robert and Clara (DeVries) Kiel and she grew up in Lynden where she spent her childhood years.
Leslie attended Ebenezer and Lynden Christian schools and graduated from Lynden Christian High School. She worked in retail and other service industry positions.
Her son Joren, who was born on May 6, 1992, to Leslie and her former husband, John Feenstra, was her pride and joy. In 2003 Leslie moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, where she became a massage therapist and the owner-operator of her own salon.
Serving others was a passion of Leslie’s. She had a nurturing spirit and many people benefited from her natural gift of hospitality. She loved to bake and cook. She had a flair for stylish fashion ensembles which most often integrated shades of her favorite color pink. She was adored by her nieces and nephews, who had tons of fun with her at slumber parties that always included her famous monster cookies and cheeseburgers for breakfast. Leslie also found joy in caring for her dogs, especially Miss Mia. Leslie was a beautiful human being who was kind and loved by all who knew her.
Leslie most recently lived outside of Las Vegas NV with her partner Charlie, who loved her dearly.
Leslie is survived by her mother, Clara Kiel, and her son, Joren Feenstra; also a brother, Harlan Kiel; sisters Laura (Al) Smit, Linda (Lynn) Vander Yacht and JoAn (Chris) Steiner; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Kiel.
In lieu of funeral services and to honor Leslie’s memory, we ask that all who wish to participate make a donation to the Western Arizona Humane Society. Donations may be made by accessing the website at www.westernarizonahumane.org or by mail at the following address: Western Arizona Humane Society Animal Shelter in memory of Leslie Kiel, 2610 Sweetwater Ave., Lake Havasu City, AZ 86406, 928-855-5083.
Death takes the body; God takes the soul.
Our mind holds the memories, our hearts keep the love.
Our faith lets us know we will meet again.
