Laura P. Quimby, known for being loving, faithful and caring generously for others, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 6, 2017. She was 97.
Laura was born July 20, 1919 in Bellingham to Albert and Pauline (Constant) Glass. She was second after sister Genevieve and then brothers Cliff and Floyd.
Laura met Albert Quimby and they were married on Feb. 16, 1940. They were longtime members of Laurel Community Baptist Church where Laura was treasurer for many years. Laura loved to take road trips with Al.
Laura was a homemaker, and to earn extra money started a drapery business, sewing and selling drapes out of her home for about 10 years. She also worked at B.B. Furniture, and lastly she worked for Central Tax with her brother Cliff Glass. She took care of her parents, Albert and Pauline Glass, and was very active in the lives of her nieces and nephews. She was dedicated to helping and caring for her extended family when they were ill.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Albert; brothers Cliff Glass and Floyd Glass; and sister Genevieve Schneider.
Laura is survived by nephews Bill Schneider (Sharon), Ken Schneider (Jeanie), Bob Schneider (Joy) and Don Schneider (Jackie); and numerous nephews from Floyd’s family Phil (Robin), Dave, Sid (Holly), Steve (Melinda); and nieces and nephews from Clifford’s family Albert (Pat), Kathy, and Lauri Boote (Arvin).
You are invited to join family and friends for a 10 a.m. graveside service on Friday, July 14, in Woodlawn Cemetery, 5977 Northwest Dr., Ferndale, with Pastor Bob Cameron officiating.
