Kornelis “Kor” Keizer passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016, at the age of 80. Kor was born on Dec. 11, 1935, to Schelte and Antje (Dykman) Keizer in Oude Bildtzyl, Friesland, Holland.
Kornelis married Anna Valk on Dec. 19, 1954. Together they immigrated to Canada where they lived and worked in Edmonton, Alberta, for eight years. The family then immigrated to Artesia, California, before moving to Lynden in 1969. Kor and Ann were dairy farmers for many years. They had four children.
He was an avid fisherman, especially enjoying lake fishing and camping. He looked forward to Wednesday’s cattle barn sale to see which cattle were up for sale and to visit his many friends.
Kor is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ann; children Jerry (Nelva), George (Sherry), Elizabeth “Liz” (Wes) Vander Pol and Annette (Ed) Kooistra; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren with three more on the way; two sisters and four brothers, all in Holland; and brother-in-law Dick Dykstra of Chilliwack, B.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and Ann’s siblings and their spouses.
The family thanks the staff at Mt. Baker Kidney Center and North Cascade Health Center for their love and care of Dad and also our many friends who stopped by to visit and give encouragement. Contributions may be given to Mt. Baker Kidney Center, 410 Birchwood Ave., Suite 100, Bellingham, WA 98225.
