Kim Maurice Smith, age 66, of Lakefield, Minnesota, passed away on June 6, 2018 after a short illness with his wife Doris by his side.
Kim was born March 18, 1952 to Neil and Carol (Elsbree) Smith, the fifth of six children. He grew up in Lynden, attending Lynden High School. After leaving school he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, becoming a sergeant and assigned to Thailand, where he worked in intelligence during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; daughters Angelica Hadeen, Sarah Smith and son Randy (Erin) Smith of Spanaway; step-children Vanessa and Adam Johnson, Stephen Skonsburg and Sasha Martinelli; grandchildren Angelina, Kari, Kyle, Skye, Maleah and Darin Jr.; mother Carol (Smith) Vrieling; sister Sheila (Smith) Lohman; brothers Steven (Leah) Smith, Michael (Becky) Smith, Mark (Karen) Smith, Keith Smith and Wade (Sue) Smith; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, one step-brother and two step-sisters.
He was preceded in death by his father, Neil Smith; his step-father, George Vrieling; and brother-in-law Douglas Lohman.
