Janet Marlene Robinette (Hoffman) was born March 31, 1931 to Jacob and Francis Hoffman in Bellingham and passed away on April 6, 2018.
Janet spent most of her early years in Bellingham, graduating in the Bellingham High School class of ‘49 and then working as a dental assistant. A blind date arrangement in 1950 brought about her marriage to Charles Robinette in 1952 and in 1955 they moved to Bellevue. Their two children, Jill and Jeff, were born and spent their childhoods in Bellevue.
Being a good mom was her first priority, but once home was an empty nest Janet enjoyed returning to the working world. Retirement brought the end of 37 years in Bellevue as she and Charles packed up for a short stay in Mill Creek before landing in Lynden. Searching for a church, the two were welcomed to Hope Lutheran where Janet was an active member of the Women of Hope.
Janet liked to travel, and celebrating several of her birthdays on Maui made for happy times. There were also fun trips with Tulip Tours, the last being to Germany. Janet loved working word puzzles (specifically Sudoku), her “Y” coffee bunch, Wednesday night cards, quilting group, Friday night potluck at the clubhouse, and Saturday night cards with old friends.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Charles; daughter Jill (Dale) Simonson; son Jeffrey Robinette (Maureen O’Shaughnessy); four grandchildren Brandon, Ryan, Jadrian and Giana; and several other relatives.
A memorial for Janet will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, in Hope Lutheran Church, 900 East Grover St., Lynden.
