Jack Allen Ohmart, age 75, passed away peacefully on Dec 5, 2020. He was born Dec. 18, 1944, to Bert and Irene Ohmart, along with twin sister Gerry Ellen (Sleeth), in Snohomish, WA. For the past four years Jack had battled COPD and vascular dementia.
Jack was a Class of 1963 Lynden High School graduate. He will be remembered for his 30-year career with BNSF Railway, where he served in many capacities and many states before his retirement in 2000. Jack was proud of his service to the country in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. Besides building railroads, he had a great love for his family, hunting big game, fishing, camping, golfing (although the rules didn’t seem important to him).
Jack is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marla; daughters Jakki Lundquist of Pullman WA, and Steph (Steve) Haston of Aztec NM; twin sister Gerry Ellen (John) Sleeth of Sun City AZ; and mother-in-law Ann Trenkle, whom he helped care for the last seven years. He was blessed with three grandchildren. He spent the last two years loving and playing with his four great-grandchildren and wanted to meet his newest twin great-grandsons.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Irene Ohmart, and his son, Tyler James Ohmart.
A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to the charity of your choice.
