J. Allen Saar, age 86, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, Sept. 16, 2017 in Lynden. He was born to Lloyd and M. Eleanor (Horne) Saar on May 22, 1931 and remained a lifelong resident of the Sumas area he loved.
He is survived by his wife, Gertie (Rensink) Saar; two children, Chrissy (David) Workman and Greg Saar/Mary Mihira; four stepchildren, Gloria (Dale) Wheeler, Kenneth Bock, Rod (Tammy) Bock and Arlene (Rob) Crozier. He will be greatly missed by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, C. Lloyd and M. Eleanor Saar; his younger sister Joann Saar Levine (1936 – 2002), and son Darryl Lee Saar (1956 – 1967).
All are invited to the graveside service in Sumas Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, followed by a Celebration of Life in Sumas Advent Christian Church, 125 Front St., Sumas. You are invited to stay after the service for refreshments and to share memories with family and friends.
