Grace Van Dyken went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018. She was 92.
Grace, born June 17, 1925 in Stedum, the Netherlands, was a daughter of Afko and Zwaantje (Ettema) Ryskamp and the last of five children. Grace grew up in Holland and married Clarence Van Dyken on June 3, 1949. In 1957, Grace, Clarence and family immigrated to the United States, settling in Lynden. Grace adored her husband and children. She was known for her beautiful flower gardens and for keeping an open door for all to stop by.
Grace was a member of Third Christian Reformed Church of Lynden and volunteered with Ladies Aid and Christian World Relief.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, in 2002.
She is survived by her children, Everett Van Dyken, Swanny (Ken) Strand, Alfred (Kelli) Van Dyken, Emily (Tom) Fleming, and Trudy and (Ron) DePasquale; grandchildren Erik (Sarah) Strand, Kimberlee (Eric) Powell, Brent Van Dyken, Tyler (Melissa) Van Dyken, Joshua (Destiny) Van Dyken, Cameron (Sheila) Robinson, Amanda Robinson, Blake (Gina) Van Dyken, Robby DePasquale and Torey DePasquale; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other family members.
Visitation was on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at Gillies Funeral Home. A memorial service is at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, in Third Christian Reformed Church. Private family graveside preceded in Monumenta Cemetery.
