Gary Edward Lehman, 63, passed away suddenly at his home in Rainier, Washington, on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018. He was recovering from a successful carotid artery surgery on Dec. 29.
Born and raised in Whatcom County, he graduated from Nooksack Valley High School. His work history included Columbia Granite and Cowden Gravel & Ready Mix where he was a heavy equipment operator.
Gary enjoyed living close to nature, especially the mountains. He loved all living creatures, especially his “co-pilot” Boots, his last dog. Boots went with him everywhere and enjoyed riding in Gary’s truck.
Gary liked traveling, country western music and photography. He recently started the process of getting a license to fly a drone to take aerial photos and video footage. He was always tinkering with something. He was mechanically inclined and a handy carpenter. He gladly helped family with home repairs and small projects. He even enjoyed gardening.
Friends, family and coworkers will remember his witty sense of humor, kind nature, compassion and strong devotion to family and work. He was meticulous, outgoing and adventurous.
He is survived by his mother, Mildred Lehman (Schutte); his brother, Richard Lehman; great-aunts; cousins; many nieces and a nephew.
He was predeceased by his father, Lyle Lloyd Lehman, in February 2007; and sisters Diane May Lehman in 1954 and Cynthia Johnson (Lehman, Blair) in July 2013.
Please join us in a Celebration of Life at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, in the Everson City Hall. Gary will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, Gary would have appreciated a contribution to The NOAH Center (www.thenoahcenter.org) for animals.
You are invited to share your condolences and memories in the online guestbook at www.gilliesfuneralhome.com.
