Gale Phillips of Lynden, passed away on June 17, 2017. He was born June 15, 1932 in Kansas City, Missouri, to parents George and Gladys Phillips.
He is survived by his spouse Winnie; children, George, JD (Shellie) and Galene (Jon) Olson; grandchildren, Madison, Jackson, Luke, Davis, Lincoln, and Dawson; and sister, Esther Headrick.
Gale received his bachelor’s from Fort Hayes – Kansas State and his master’s from the University of Washington. Gale taught history in the Seattle School District from 1961 to 1994. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force.
The things Gale loved most in life were God, his family, and teaching. He was an avid reader and never lost his love for learning. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he kept his calendar full, attending every event that he could. “Papa” was their biggest fan.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Faith Community Church.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 23, in Faith Community Church, 586 Birch Bay Lynden Rd., Lynden.
