Frank E. Jackson, age 93, entered into rest on June 4, 2016, in Bellingham, surrounded by his family.
Frank was born in Rockford, Illinois, on Oct. 30, 1922, to Frank and Elizabeth (Bubser) Jackson. He attended high school in Byron, Illionis, and graduated in 1941. Frank entered the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942 and served his country until 1945 during World War II. After the military, Frank worked for the Rockford newspaper (Gannett) for 45 years and retired in 1986.
During his life, Frank enjoyed fishing, stained glass projects, mentoring young boys, gardening, travel and reading. He attended Grace Baptist Fellowship in Lynden for many years. Frank will be remembered most for his sense of humor, outgoing personality and his passion and caring for his family.
Frank married Charlene Sawyer on Oct. 3, 1981, in Rockton, Illinois. He will be missed by his wife, Charlene of Ferndale; daughters Chris Sawyer of Tacoma, Tammy Sawyer of Fishers, Indiana, Lynnette Sawyer of Rockford and Sharon Gibson of Madison, Wisconsin; brother Andrew Jackson of Byron; and sister-in-law Dorothy Jackson of Byron.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Lue; son Donald Jackson; and brothers Arthur, Harry and James Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in Frank’s name to Whatcom Hospice House, 2806 Douglas Ave., Bellingham, WA 98225; or your charity of choice.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Grace Baptist Church, 338 N. Park St., Lynden, WA 98264.
