Eleanor Jeanne Ehrlich went home to the Lord on March 14.
Beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend, El passed away peacefully at Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
El was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on Aug. 1, 1928, the only child of Gene Griswold and Alice Seip Griswold. She attended Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, where she met a handsome soldier, Robert Mack Ehrlich. They married on Nov. 8, 1947, and were devoted to each other for almost 73 years.
Their daughter Vickie was born in 1951, followed by Bob in 1953, John in 1957, and Bill in 1966. They lived on their raspberry farm in Lynden until they retired and returned to Coeur d’Alene in 2008.
El was a hard worker with boundless energy, always holding a job outside the home while raising children, going to every one of their baseball games and 4H events, baking, canning and cooking (the best fried chicken).
She retired from Avon after many years as a district manager. In her spare time, El made beautiful quilts and quilted table runners and was an avid reader.
El was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; her daughter, Vickie, and several dogs that were lucky enough to become part of the Ehrlich clan.
El is survived by her sons, Bob (and Karen), John (and Dana) and Bill (and Joyce) Ehrlich; as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was a force of nature and will be deeply missed.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of North Idaho for their exceptional care and kindness. El was at peace and eager to enter Heaven’s gate, and the compassionate attention she received was an invaluable gift to her and her family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Eleanor’s memory can be made to Newby-ginnings of North Idaho or to Hospice of North Idaho.
Memorial service for Eleanor will be Saturday, April 9, at 2 p.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho at 1700 E. Pennsylvania Ave.
Interment will follow at Christ The King Columbarium.
