Eldon Wiggs

Eldon Morgan Wiggs was born April 30, 1923, in Wilson, Oklahoma. He accepted his eternal life on Dec. 20, 2018. His was a life well lived by a man well loved.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Josephine Jean Nichols Wiggs, for whom he faithfully cared as she battled Alzheimer’s disease; his parents, Elbert and June Wiggs; and his sister, Maryilee Wiggs Fowler.

He is survived by his two daughters: Debra of Bellingham and Shannon of Gig Harbor, with whom he lived for his final 11 years.

Eldon was an active community member in Mount Vernon, Kelso/Longview, Centralia, Lynden and Sun Village, Arizona, where he and Jo Jean had wintered since 1990. He loved golf, computers and woodworking. He was the district governor for Rotary District 502 in 1989-90.

Eldon and Jo Jean loved to travel and saw most of the world. He instilled that value in his daughters, for which they are grateful.

Because he was a big man with a big heart, one celebration of his life is not enough! Folks in Sun Village will have the chance to celebrate Eldon in mid-April and folks in Washington, at the end of April. Plans are still being developed.

Eldon’s favorite charities were the Rotary Foundation (www.rotary.org/en/donate); Young Life (www.giving.younglife.org) and Wheelchairs for Nigeria ([email protected]).

Services will be held at a later date. Cremation was rendered by Haven of Rest in Gig Harbor.
