Dianna May (Dykstra) Meyer was born on March 18, 1951, in Corsica, South Dakota to Edward and Marjorie (VanderTuin) Dykstra. She passed away at St. Joseph’s hospital in Bellingham, Washington, in the early hours of Monday, Jan. 23, with a daughter holding each hand.
In March 1960, Dianna moved with her parents and brothers to Whatcom County. Dianna met Deane Meyer at a young adults group.
Their first date was a Beach Boys concert, which she asked Deane to accompany her to. They married on Dec. 29, 1978, and made their home and life together, raising two daughters, in Lynden.
Dianna enjoyed doing handwork of many kinds: cross-stitch, sewing, crocheting and more. Her favorite days were always days spent with babies present. Dianna’s grandsons were the light of her life, and she cherished the time she spent with them and family. Dianna is survived by her husband Deane, daughters Donna Meyer and Danielle (Yuri) Miljevic, grandsons Félix and Niko, brothers Sylvan (Star) Dykstra and Ernie Dykstra, nine brothers- and sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The memorial service was held at North County Christ the King Church on Monday, Jan. 30.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Gillies Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
