Betty Metz

Screen Shot 2015-09-17 at 2.04.55 PM  Betty Metz was born on Dec. 29, 1938, in Polson, Montana, to Allen and Helga Crawford and passed away on Sept. 8, 2015, in Lynden at the age of 76.
  Betty graduated from Polson High School in Polson in 1956 and attended Caroll College in Helena, Montana. She worked at Security State Bank until she married Leo Metz in 1958. They lived in various places in Montana until settling in Lynden in 1965. Betty was a homemaker until her children were grown. After that she worked as a bookkeeper and religious education coordinator at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lynden.
  Betty was a very spiritual person and was very actively involved at St. Joseph Catholic Church for many years. Betty’s priorities in life were her faith and relationships with her family and many friends. She enjoyed gardening, baking, photography, traveling and spending time at the family cabin on Flathead Lake. One of the highlights of her life was going on a trip to the Holy Land. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who thought nothing of giving her time and energy to her family.
  Betty is survived by her husband, Leo; children Art (Shelley) Metz of Whitefish, Montana, Tina Metz of Bellingham, Christine (Rod) Hoefakker of Sumas, John Metz of Richland, Washington, and Tim (Karen) Metz of Lynden. She has 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
  She was preceded in death by brother Glen Crawford and infant children Kristopher and Danette.
  A funeral mass was held at St. Joseph Catholic Parish in Ferndale on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015. A graveside service will be held on Sept. 18 at 10 a.m. at Lakeview Cemetery in Polson, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
