Anna Heutink, of Lynden, was promoted to heaven from the Christian Health Care Center on Monday, Sept. 19, 2016 at the age of 92.
Anna was born on March 16, 1924 in Iowa to Walter and Marie Smit. She was second oldest of nine children. In March 1944, Anna married Alvin Heutink and together they had two sons and two daughters. The family moved to Sumas in 1953 where Anna held many small jobs, but was always taking care of her home and family.
Anna loved travel, crocheting, knitting, flower gardening and going on outings with her sisters. She was a member of Faith Reformed Church of Lynden.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Alvin, a brother and one granddaughter.
She is survived by four children, Alvin “Butch” (Teresa), Ronald (Gina), Diana (Nick) Laninga and Vicki (Rev. Bernie) Dykstra; 12 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; seven siblings; and numerous other nieces, nephews and family members.
A time of visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, in Gillies Funeral Home. The graveside committal will be at 10:15 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, in Monumenta Cemetery followed by an 11 a.m. memorial service in Faith Reformed Church, 300 Seventh St.
