Alida Crabtree, of Lynden, passed away on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016 at the age of 93.
Alida was born in Shepherd, Montana, on Feb. 23, 1923 to John and Ada (DeWilde) Lagerwey. She was one of 13 children. In 1939 the family moved to Everson and then on to Lynden in 1940. Alida married Clarence Duim on Feb. 26, 1943 and together they had four children Gary, Bob, Diane and Randy. Clarence died on May 17, 1959.
Alida met and after a time married Sam Crabtree in November 1964. Together they had one daughter, Donna.
Alida was a dedicated member of First Reformed Church. She enjoyed camping, reading, crocheting and knitting.
Alida was preceded in death by her husband Clarence. She is survived by sons Gary (Linda) Duim, Bob (Vicki) Duim and Randy (Linda) Duim; daughters Diane (Larry) Haak and Donna O’Brien; brother Matthew Lagerwey; sister Claus Schouten; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
The graveside committal was held on Tuesday, Nov. 8, in Monumenta Cemetery followed by a memorial service in First Reformed Church, 610 Grover St., Lynden.
