Alice Sauvageau

screen-shot-2016-09-14-at-1-00-39-pm  Alice M. Sauvageau, of Everson, passed away at home on Sept. 7, 2016. She was 89 years old.
  Alice was a member of Sons of Norway, Emblem Club, Daughters of Norway and Royal Neighbors.
  Alice was a daughter of Norwegian homesteaders Ole and Ida (Nelson) Metvedt, born Aug. 15, 1927 in Westby, Montana. She graduated from Westby High School and earned her teaching certificate in Helena, Montana. Alice taught school in Shelby, Montana, and lived in Cut Bank, Montana.
  She married A.J. Sauvageau (Frenchie) on May 31, 1947 in Shelby. They raised their family in Montana until moving to Washington State in 1964. In 1969 the family moved to Anchorage, Alaska. Alice checked coats for functions at the Captain Cook and Sheraton Anchorage hotels. She worked for the Municipality of Anchorage for 20 years, watering the hanging baskets. While working, she enjoyed meeting and talking with people from around the world.
  Alice was preceded in death by her husband Frenchie on Dec. 1, 1974 and granddaughter Monique Soliai.
  She is survived by daughters Karen (Terry) Telgenhoff, De Loyce (Al) Stroud, Michele Savickus and Robin Ingram; son Gary (Patti) Sauvageau; grandchildren Chad Shoemaker, Craig Telgenhoff, Danielle Soliai, Amanda Soliai, Joe Nelson, Danial Savickus, Randi Kay Leischner, Michael Nickula, James Nickula and Ashley McDow; and 16 great-grandchildren.
  Her memorial service was held Saturday, Sept. 10, at Gillies Funeral Home with Pastor Conrado Gonzaga officiating.
