Daniel Claes Aldrich, age 48, passed into the presence of his Savior early Friday morning March 30, 2018 following a struggle with heart disease.
Daniel was born in Spokane, Washington and spent his first several years in Bellingham where his parents Jon and Linda Aldrich were members of The Firs Conference Center staff. He moved with them and his younger sister Bekka to Nacogdoches, Texas and there began his life as a pastor’s kid. Eight years took him through his junior high years along with wrestling and football. After five years in Battleground Washington, again a pastor’s kid, wrestler, football player, and now snow skier he began his first year as a student at Multnomah Bible College in Portland, Oregon. After two more years Daniel joined his parents in Lynden.
Daniel began his cooking career at Burgerville in Portland, took his skills to Burger King and then began some cooking at the Firs Chalet at Mt Baker and then cooked one summer at Camp Firwood. During this time he enrolled at Trinity Western University.
It was there that he met the love of his life, Nancy Young from Salmon Arm, B.C. More schooling and then he and Nancy moved to Cannon Beach where he was the main Dinner Cook at the Cannon Beach Conference Center for 12 years. It was there that their daughter Analynda was born. In 2013 Daniel, Nancy and Analynda moved back to Lynden and he was employed at Lynden Arco AM-PM until his death. His friendly face will be missed by his employer and many of the AM-PM customers.
Throughout his life Daniel was a committed Christian having trusted the Savior at the age of eight. He was a lover of knowledge, having a good understanding of science, medicine, theology and apologetics. He was well read, had a broad taste in music. He was also a Star Wars and Lord of the Rings fan and could discuss with anyone the ins and outs of those series.
Daniel will be missed by his wife and daughter; his parents and his sister Bekka Eidsvick (Jason); his niece Kelly and nephew Jon and his many aunts and uncles and cousins. His passing has left a large hole in their lives. They, however, rest in the certain truth from Scripture that those who have trusted the Savior will meet again on the other side. Until then he will be greatly missed. Our heart-felt gratitude to the many who have loved and encouraged him through the years.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 12, in Sunrise Baptist Church, 2480 West Badger Road in Custer. The church is at the corner of West Badger and Delta Line roads about half-way between Lynden and Blaine.
