Elizabeth Josephine (Anderson) Fadden of Lynden peacefully passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. She was 96 years old.
Josephine was born in Sumas, where she had resided until September 2016 when she moved to Meadow Greens Retirement Community. When she was 4 years old, her parents moved to a farm on Jones Road where she resided for 88 years. On April 21, 1950, Josephine and Bruce were married and together they operated the dairy farm for 24 years.
When she was 17 years old, Josephine accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior and she walked out her faith daily. She attended the Lynden Gospel Hall.
Josephine was known not only for her famous pies, but also for her hospitality. All were welcomed and there never was a stranger sitting at her table. She served many meals to people she never knew, who later would become extended family. Flowers and gardening were her hobbies. She made more friends by sharing a plant cutting, flowers from her garden, or a cup of coffee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce, and grandsons Jerrod Fadden and Dave Nelson.
She is survived by Merilyn (Pete) Etelamaki of Marysville, Rod (LeeAnn) Fadden of Bellingham, Brian (Joannie) Fadden of Sumas, Della Janzen of Everett, Donna (Rick) Redekop of Chilliwack, B.C., Debbie (Tim) Vinzani of China, Judy (Richard) Riemersma of Surrey, B.C.; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
The memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 24, in Sonlight Community Christian Reformed Church of Lynden. Private family burial will be in Sumas Cemetery.
