LaVerne was a son of Louis and Retah King. He passed away peacefully on March 4, 2018 in Bellingham.
LaVerne attended Ferndale High School, served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and lived on the Kingspring Farm west of Ferndale until his passing.
He was employed at Gerard’s Gardens & Intalco Corporation. He was a member of the Lynden/Ferndale Masonic International Lodge No. 56 and Ferndale OES No. 223.
He was married to Jacelyn (Jodock) King for 55 years, the father of five; grandfather of eight and great-grandfather of four.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, in the United Church of Ferndale, 2034 Washington St.
Memorials may be given to the Arthritis Foundation or the United Church of Ferndale.
