David Gordon Tremaine passed away peacefully, to be with our Lord for eternity, on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024 in Lake Stevens. He was surrounded with love by his wife, a few family members, and close friends. He died at age 80 with complications of Parkinson’s disease.
David and his family were one of the pioneer families that settled in Lynden. David was born in Bellingham. He married Maria Elena Aedo Vergara on June 30, 1979 in Seattle.
David obtained his B.A. and M.A. from WWU in Geography Education in the late sixties. He was an educator all his life teaching at the Lake Stevens School District, EvCC, WWU, and Navy College in Snohomish County. He travelled to several countries on Fulbright Scholarships in the summer.
David and his wife travelled to many countries and enjoyed hosting international students, teachers, family members, and many others in their lakefront property. They have several Godchildren in Washington and an extended family of very close friends in the area.
David is preceded in death by his parents Ivan and Donna Tremaine and brother in law Johnny Quanz. He is survived by four siblings and their spouses in Whatcom County and many close family members in two states and in Chile and Scotland.
David will be remembered for his many qualities and sorely missed by all who met him.
David’s graveside service and burial is Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. in the Lynden Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor William Van Dyken, a brother-in-law, and accompanied by mostly family and very close friends.
Donations in his memory should go to his Alma Mater, WWU School of Education.
