Margaret A. deKubber (Peggy), 86, of Snohomish, WA passed away on Dec. 6, 2023. She was born Dec. 17, 1936, in Lynden, the daughter of Adria and Leslie Knudsen. Peggy grew up in Lynden where she met and later married Jack deKubber. She graduated in 1954 from Lynden High School. She attended WWU and graduated with a teaching degree in 1958. At the beginning of her career, she taught in Granite Falls before moving to Snohomish in 1962 where she taught at Riverview Elementary School until she retired in 1993. Peggy’s passion for teaching was evident in the impact she had on her students. Her daughters remember on many occasions, her adult students telling them what a wonderful teacher she was and how much she meant to them.
After retirement from teaching, Peggy was an avid volunteer. In 2011 she was presented with the Governor’s Outstanding Volunteer Service Award by then-Governor Christine Gregoire, for her 15 years of service with the DayBreak Senior Respite Program.
Peggy enjoyed spending time with the family at Lake Whatcom. She also loved spending time in the garden growing and canning vegetables for her family.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jack, her daughters, Lisa (Mark), Lori (Sarah), Wendy (Ted), and Teri (Larry), her granddaughter Quinn, her sisters Kay Johnson and Judi Lahmann (Ron) and brother Les Knudsen (Elaine).
