Charles Edward Scheuffele passed away peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior Aug. 17, 2023.
Charles was born Nov. 13, 1933 to his parents, Edward and Lydia Scheuffele. He was born in Plevna, Montana, and was the oldest of four children. In 1945, his family moved to Coulee City, Washington, and two years later to Yakima, where he grew up.
Charles met his future wife Joyce in high school. One year later, they wed Aug. 3, 1952. He moved his family to Seattle in 1955 to work for Boeing. Three years later, in 1958, Charles hired on with the Seattle Police Department where he spent his career until 1994. After retiring, Charles and Joyce moved to Lynden where they enjoyed the community and fellowship with friends.
For many years, Charles and Joyce volunteered every Sunday to do the ministries at Christian Healthcare Center.
Charles was blessed with three children, Steve Scheuffele (Teresa), Don Scheuffele (Suzi), and Tammy Denman (Richard); two granddaughters Sarah Merryman (Jared) and Lisa Lehmier (Mike); and five great-grandchildren, Lexy Merryman, Laila Merryman, Lily Merryman, Owen Lehmier and Presley Lehmier.
His memorial service will be Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. at Second Christian Reformed Church, with Pastor Ben deRegt officiating.
