Doreen Alice Adams, 76, of Ferndale passed away Aug. 8, 2023, at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham.
Doreen was born July 31, 1947, in Bellingham to Ellis and Lynette Brann. The family moved to Alaska, where she graduated from high school in Fairbanks and earned a college degree in business in Anchorage. Doreen worked 25 years for Alaska’s state government in its oversight of utility systems operated by local boroughs.
Doreen then moved back to Whatcom County. She married Ron Adams on July 26, 2006, in Lynden. They were active at Hope Lutheran Church in Lynden and in the Washington State Good Sams Club.
She also was an associate member of Vietnam Veterans of America and a member of the Puget Sound Antique Tractor and Machinery Association. Doreen enjoyed cooking, playing cards, watching the Seattle Mariners and traveling with Good Sams to RV campouts. She proudly told others of utilizing Alcoholics Anonymous to maintain sobriety for many years.
Doreen is survived by her husband Ron Adams, son Eric Jackson of Bellingham, stepsons Ronald Adams of Bellingham and Peter Adams of Richland, and brother Doug (Mary Beth) Brann of Dillsburg, Penn.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Aug. 26 at Hope Lutheran Church, 900 E. Grover St., Lynden, followed by a reception. Donations in Doreen’s name may be made to Hope Lutheran Church or the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are under the care of Gillies Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lynden.
