Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, Dolores Elaine Swanson Bjornstad passed away at the age of 91 on Jan. 10, 2023, in Lynden, Washington.
Born in Detroit, Michigan on Sept. 17, 1931, to James and Betsy Swanson. The family moved to Washington.
Dolores married Leonard Bjornstad on Sept. 11, 1948, they eventually made their home in Bellingham, Washington.
Dolores will be lovingly remembered by her children Shorty (Cindy), Mike (Frances), Jim (Windy), and Penny (Rick), nine grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren along with numerous other family members.
Dolores was predeceased by her husband of 71 years, Leonard. Parents, James Swanson and Tim and Betsy Huntley, and sisters Gloria and Evelyn.
Dolores enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, sewing, genealogy, and ceramics.
Dolores loved spending time with her family and hosting holidays and gatherings at her home.
Most of all, Dolores loved unexpected visits from family members.
Dolores loved Jesus and was a longtime churchgoer, at Northside Community Church where she was baptized by Pastor Ted Swindburne.
A family memorial will be held at a later date.
