Patricia “Pat” A. George passed away peacefully into the arms of her Savior following a traumatic brain injury on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015. She was born on Sept. 18, 1942, to Marion and Genevieve (Hollar) Ausink in Bellingham and raised in Lynden. She graduated from Lynden High School in 1960 and went on to attend Bellingham Business College. Pat met and later married Don George on May 24, 1969. Together they had four children.
Pat and Don owned and operated Towner Press Inc. in Bellingham for 37 years. At the same time, she spent 20 years working for KPK Catering, catering for the Northwest Washington Fair entertainment. Pat was a long-time member of First Reformed Church. She always loved to plan family events and meet with her Friday morning coffee crew at the Fairway Café, Wednesday’s lunch bunch, and birthday club. She enjoyed spring flowers, bowling, RVing and wintering in Mesa, Arizona. She was known to many for her kind and generous spirit.
Pat is survived by her husband of 46 years, Don; children Stacy George of Lake Stevens, Heidi George of Bellingham, Michael (Gracelyn) George of Lynden and Linda (Wes) Gray of Lynden; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her brothers, Brent Ausink and Jan Ausink; and sister Terri (Bob) Crabtree.
Pat was preceded in death by her first husband in 1967, Harvey Berkenpas; daughter Jennifer; and her parents.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, in First Reformed Church, 610 Grover St., Lynden.
