Linda Marie (Jansen) Smoots entered this world on April 10, 1946, as the apple of her parents’ (Vivian and Gary) eyes. As a child, she was enthralled with music, singing, water and snow skiing, and fun, which throughout her life never changed.
As a young lady, she found joy working at her father’s flower shop and graduated from Bellingham High School, then four years later from Western Washington University with a degree in education. Linda married and had a son, James, and later met and married the love of her life, John Smoots, and they joined their two families.
During their careers, John and Linda lived together in Mill Creek and later retired to their dream home on the Columbia River, where they enjoyed swimming, boating, sunsets overlooking the river and hills, the church in their Desert Aire community, and many joyful years together.
Linda left this world unexpectedly on May 12, 2021. Linda’s passion for life and adventurous, loving nature will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her, but especially by her husband, son, sister, stepchildren and grandchildren as well as by numerous extended family and friends.
Memorial services will be announced at a future date, but are tentatively planned for this summer.
Condolences may be sent to her loving husband, John, at their home in Mattawa, WA.
