Ellen Davis went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019. Ellen was known for her faithfulness to the Lord and being gracious and thoughtful.
Ellen was born on Nov. 30, 1959, in Le Mars, Iowa, to parents Calvin and Ethel (Lucas) Niewenhuis. As Ellen’s father was a pastor, the family moved around a good deal. She grew up in Waupun, Wisconsin, the first years of her life, then went on to graduate from Eastern Christian School in Paterson, New Jersey.
She earned her associate degree from Reformed Bible College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She had a great love and talent for music, literature and history. Her role as a teacher gave her a way to share these gifts with multiple generations of covenant children. She taught first at Reformation Christian School in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, and later at Cornerstone Christian School in Lynden.
Ellen married Bret Davis in August 1980 and together had four children. Her grandchildren were a source of great joy to her.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents.
Ellen is survived by her husband of 39 years, Bret; son Ian (Angela) Davis and their children Allison, Kayleigh, Emma and Lucas; daughter Laura (Dave) Burger and their children Tessa, Aiden and Kaleb; son Marc (Brittany) Davis and their children Claire and Levi; and son William Davis. She will be greatly missed by brothers Joel Niewenhuis and Jim Niewenhuis and sister Kären Mansor.
You are invited to join family and friends for her memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, in American Reformed Church on Northwood Road, Lynden.
Memorials are suggested to Cornerstone Christian School to benefit the music and library programs, 8872 Northwood Rd., Lynden, WA 98264.
