Mary Huff

  Mary Louise (Pruett) Huff, age 98, of Vancouver, Washington, and formerly of Lynden, passed into the arms of her loving Savior on Friday, Oct. 18, 2019.

  Mary was born July 6, 1921, in Lebanon, Oregon, to John and Ruth (Connet) Pruett. She attended nursing school in Oregon, then enlisted in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps in which she reached the rank of first lieutenant. She served in Europe during World War II and continued serving following the war in Honolulu. After her military service, Mary’s nursing career spanned seven decades, finishing at age 90 as a Visiting Nurse.

  Mary was a deeply committed Christian from youth and a longtime member of Lynden Community Church. She was always serving her church, her family and her neighbors. She loved to bake for others, especially pies. Mary was an avid reader. She always stayed informed on political and world events and had a great spirit of adventure. The beach was her happy place.

  Mary was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Barbara Staines and Johnny Pruett; and her three sons Curt, Eric and Craig.

  She is survived by daughters Carol (Ken) Broersma and Janet (Dave) Franzen; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

  You are invited to join Mary’s family for her memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, in Grace Baptist Fellowship, 338 N. Park St., Lynden. Burial precedes in Greenwood Cemetery.
