Rene Silva, age 48, passed away at home on Friday, Dec. 21, 2018. He was known for his big warm heart and for being a hard worker.
Rene was born on March 11, 1970, in Bellingham to Modesto and Oralia “Lala” Silva and raised mostly by stepfather Gilbert and Oralia Saenz. He was the youngest of six children.
Rene grew up on the Wiser Lake Road and helped on the family raspberry farm. He lettered all four years in football and baseball at Lynden High School before graduating in 1989. After graduation he worked for John Clark Berry Farms, then moved to the Bow area working for Mukhtiar Farms as a farm supervisor. He enjoyed his companion dogs and cats, fishing and farming. He loved watching UW Huskies football, the Seahawks and the Mariners.
Rene is survived by daughter Rochelle Courage (Caleb) of Yakima; siblings Fred (Rachel) Silva, Florinda Silva, Sandy Saenz, Virginia (Ernie) Garza, Modesto Silva Jr. and Elisa (Eduardo) Becerra; longtime girlfriend Judy Reynolds; stepfather Gilbert Saenz; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Rene was preceded in death by his parents, Modesto Silva and Oralia “Lala” Saenz.
You are invited to remember Rene at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, in North County Christ the King church followed by burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
