Olga Margaret Foley, age 92, passed away on Tuesday evening, April 28, 2015, at her residence in Lynden.
A private memorial followed by an open celebration of life gathering is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2015, in Meadow Greens Retirement Home, 301 Homestead Blvd., Lynden, WA 98264. The celebration of life is scheduled for 3 p.m. and will be held in the lobby area.
Olga was born on Oct. 7, 1922, in Omaha, Nebraska. She was a daughter of Matthew Hudeck and Emma (Kopecky) Hudeck. She graduated from South High School in Omaha, in the class of 1942. During World War II she worked at a bomb plant in Meade, Nebraska. She was very proud of her assistance to the war effort.
On Nov. 13, 1944, she married Howard Harry Vallandingham. They had two children, Carol Dawn and James William. Shortly after James was born she was divorced and married Joseph Laverne Foley on July 17, 1948. They had three children, Judy Ann, Robert Matthew and Linda Marie. Prior to her retirement she worked as a cook in the public schools in Riverton, Wyoming. In 2007, she moved from Riverton to Lynden to be closer to her daughter Linda. Olga enjoyed family activities, playing games, exercising and putting jigsaw puzzles together.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four sisters and one brother.
Olga is survived by her children: Carol Dawn Erickson and her husband Bob of Richland, Washington; James William Foley and his wife Ellen of Vancouver, Washington, Judy Loman of Vader, Washington; Robert Matthew Foley and his wife Teresa of Aztec, New Mexico; and Linda Marie Stack and her husband Rick of Blaine; 18 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
