Irwin Allard Noteboom passed into glory at the age of 77 at Whatcom Hospice House after a battle with cancer.
Irwin was born to Cornelius William Noteboom and Alma Viola (Nelson) Noteboom on Dec. 14, 1940, at home in Lynden. He graduated from Lynden High School in 1958. Irwin graduated from Washington State University with a master’s degree in agriculture economics. He married Joan Anderson in 1964. After college he worked for a few years at Western Farmers Co-op before returning to the family dairy farm in partnership with his father. Irwin continued dairy farming until 2006 and then enjoyed his beef and hobby farming, gardening and canning.
He was a lifelong member of First Reformed Church in Lynden, where he served as an elder and a deacon. Irwin served in the National Guard from 1966 to 1971.
Irwin and Joan raised three children, Julie, Lisa and Scott. In 1995 Joan passed away.
Irwin remarried to Marlene Pike at the end of 1996. Together they raised two more children, Melisa and Henry. More than anything he enjoyed traveling, fishing and camping, cribbage games, his family and his church. His last trip just three months ago was a river cruise and drive across Germany and Holland.
Irwin was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Joan; an infant daughter; uncle Russ Noteboom; and brother-in-law Lyle Bennink.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene; children Julie Ranson, Lisa Hickey, Scott Noteboom (Christy), Melisa Berry (John) and Henry Lancaster (Katelyn); sister Marilyn Bennink; brother Dennis Noteboom (Arlene); uncle Peter Noteboom (Nancy); Marjean Noteboom; six grandchildren; and numerous cousins.
