Robert C. “Bob” Boice, 96, died peacefully at his home in Lynden on Thursday, July 26, 2018.
Bob was born Feb. 9, 1922 in Lynden, the youngest child of Carl and Anna (Vander Yacht) Boice. A graduate of Lynden High School, he served in the U.S. Army Air Force between 1942 and 1945. He was then employed by the U.S. Postal Service. When Lynden adopted city delivery, Bob, along with Jack Hardin, served as the town’s first city carriers. He retired as a rural letter carrier in 1980.
Bob volunteered as a docent at the Lynden Pioneer Museum for 35 years. He was a founding member of Hope Lutheran Church and belonged to the VFW.
He was predeceased by his eldest son, Richard.
Bob is survived by his wife of 66 years, Anna-Greta; son Jeff (Nhi); daughter Leeann; granddaughter Jessica (Tim) Alfonso; and great-granddaughter Scarlett Alfonso; plus many loving relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, in Hope Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lynden Pioneer Museum or Hope Lutheran Church.
