The beautiful soul of Makyla Mae Carpenter of Ferndale, age 18, born July 16, 1999, was taken from us on June 30, 2018. She was the daughter of Julianna Kindlund-Carpenter and Kip Carpenter of Ferndale.
Makyla attended Horizon Middle, Ferndale High School, Windward High School and Bellingham Technical College. She worked at Starbucks at a job she loved. Makyla’s wish was to donate her organs, and her heart went to a 5-year-old child! She loved animals, being outdoors and helping others.
Makyla is survived by her parents; grandmothers Alpha Kindlund and Shirley Wood; siblings, nieces and nephews Rory, Rheagan, Carlee and Chloe Gambini, Jeremiah, Chelsey, Alicia, Nevaeh, Nilay and Airabella Crediford, Matt Carr, Amanda Hull, Maria Polanco, Brianna Lindsey, Kristiana Carpenter, Miles Carpenter, Mike Carpenter and Cassie Carpenter; as well as many foster siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends who loved her.
Because Makyla was killed by a drunk driver, we ask that in lieu of flowers please donate to the Makyla Carpenter Benefit Account (to fund Makyla’s Pledge Foundation) at Peoples Bank or mail to 1895 E. Main St., Ferndale, WA 98248 in honor of Makyla. Makyla’s Pledge Foundation will be educating teens and asking them to pledge to never drink and drive or ride with someone who has.
